Homework for weeks 3-4
Homework time!
Most of you did a fabulous job of designing your very own worm farm. Here comes your next challenge!
Your task (that I am giving you two weeks for), is to make a mini model of your worm farm. It can be out of your chosen materials from your design or you can use different materials and make it look like the materials you want to use. Your model doesn't need to be very big but it does need to show how all the parts of your work farm design works.
Once you have made them, we can look at your design features and decide if anything needs to be changed or fixed up to make sure everything will work the best for your worm farm.

Reading Log
This week, each student has been given a reading log to record their reading at home. Please make sure you look out for you child's reading log as it requires your signature proving they have done the reading they said they did.
I can't wait to see all the awesome reading the Kea Class have done over the weekend! If you have any comments about your child's reading that you wish to share with me, feel free to write any comments on the back to their reading logs.
Have a fabulous weekend :)

Writing focus: Recount
Kia ora Whānau,
For the beginning of this term, our focus is writing a recount to retell events. Here is a picture of a poster we have in the Kea Class to help us remember the details about a recount. So far, we have done a fabulous job of retelling what happened in the holidays.

End of week one already!
Great start to term 2 Kea Class.
Just a reminder to have a growth mind set. You can always improve. You can always make something better. Don't stay on the learning pit cloud, get into the learning pit!
A couple of things for you to remember:

Tuesday's Learning
Due to me loosing the cord to connect the camera to my computer, I am only about to add these photos now but that is ok!
Yesterday we did so much. Just as a wee reminder we looked over our class treaty to refresh our memories about what we decided was important for us in Kea Class at the beginning of the year.
We also talked about how to ask someone how they are feeling in te reo Māori.
Kei te pēhea koe?
Then we created these faces to show which emotion goes with which word in Māori!
Lastly, in the afternoon we had the surprise of Peter Thompson (inventor) and Merle Bradley coming to speak to us about the inventing process and how to be perseverant when learning gets tricky. This goes along with our topic of learning heroes for term 2 based around inventors and inventions.

Building Learning Power Week 1
Each week we are going to have a Building Learning Power learning muscle of the week.
This week, our learning muscle to focus on is perseverance. We are constantly talking about how we can use perseverance for our learning during the day.
Today we explored "The Learning Pit". Every time you are learning, you are somewhere in the learning pit. When we have finished our class learning pit, we will post to show you. To give you an idea, The Learning Pit looks a little like this. Tell you parents all about it! What does it mean to be in The Learning Pit?

Reading Eggs
Great start to term 2 Kea Class! Just a quick note to parents with children in year 3. In an envelope they should have a username and password to access Reading Eggs as part of their homework. Please let me know how they are going when you can.
I'll be keeping an eye on who is doing what from this end!
